‘Situaties, Posities, Sculptuur bevragingen’.................................van tekening naar installatie naar object naar schilderij en vice versa.

Multi-media -installaties en -situaties zijn de resultaten van mijn lezend en tekenend onderzoek. Op empirische en etnografische wijze onderzoek ik een sociaal-maatschappelijke situatie, of de context waarbinnen één of meerder personen gesitueerd zijn.
Het werk heeft kunsthistorische elementen in zich en bevraagt kwesties van identiteit en autonomie, ‘find objects’ en vormgeving en de verwisselbaarheid van de ‘dingen’.

Als verschijningsvorm toont het werk zich als een ‘ecologie’, een complexe structuur van betekeniselementen, een ‘interieur’. Soms opgesloten binnen een kader, soms als een ‘landschappelijk’ gegeven.
De vloer als ‘grit’ en ‘grid’, een compositie in materiaal en kleur, een structuur van onderling samenhangende ‘dingen’: video portretten op tv’s, architectonische elementen, tactiele objecten, stoelen, tafels en soms kasten al dan niet gedemonteerd, gesproken en /of geschreven tekst, panoramische video- projecties, ‘dingen’ die hangen, liggen of steunen, transparanties en spiegelingen, geluid, licht.

- Een enkele keer haal ik een element uit zo’n installatie en vertaal dit naar een op zich zelf staand object.
Dit object verwordt dan tot een verstild en eenzaam achtergelaten ‘ding’, een bevraging aangaande het fenomeen ‘sculptuur’. Deze transpositie kan ook in de omgekeerde volgorde plaatsvinden, namelijk de ‘determining sculpture’ transformeert naar een fragment voor een installatie

- Binnen het kader van het opgespannen linnen, het vel papier of  een lap textiel, opgezet in vele (transparante) kleurlagen, in een verstild en gecomprimeerd beeld, ontwikkelt zich een vertaald fragment uit de complexe ecologie van de multi-media installaties.
Een moment van de focus van het oog als een video-still in olieverf, acryl, potlood en/of garen.

‘Situations, Positions, Determining sculpture’.......................from drawing to installation, to object, to painting and vice versa.

Multi-media -installations and –situations are the results of my reading and drawing research. In an empirical and ethnographic way,  I research social and cultural situations, or the context in which are situated one or more persons.
The work has art-historical elements in it and questions issues of identity and autonomy, ‘find objects' and design and the interchangeability of ‘things’.
In it’s appearance, the work shows itself as an ‘ecology’, a complex structure of significant elements, an ‘interior’. Sometimes trapped inside a frame, sometimes with a ‘scenic’ appearance.
The floor as 'grit' and 'grid', a composition of materials and colors, a structure of interrelated 'things': video portraits on TVs, architectural elements, tactile objects, a costume, chairs, tables and some cabinets wether or not dismantled, spoken and / or written text, panoramic video projections, ‘things’which are hanging, lying or leaning, transparencies and reflections, sound, light.

- Sometimes I take an element of such a ’whole’ and translate this into a stand-alone object.
This object then becomes a stilled and lonely abandoned 'thing', a survey on the phenomenon of 'sculpture'. This transposition can also take place in reverse order, i.e. the 'Determining sculpture' transforms into a fragment for an installation.

- Within the framework of the stretched canvas, the sheet of paper or a piece of textile, set up in many (transparent) color layers, in a tranquil and compressed image, develops a translated fragment of the complex ecology of the multi-media facilities.
A moment of focus of the eye as a video-still in oil, acrylic, pencil and / or yarn.
